SDN jobs

A recent article by Michelle Chubirka on network virtualization, which warned the network, has attracted the attention of many readers. Network and security engineers have said for some time that the sky is falling because of SDN jobs. They were told that programmers and programmers would replace him. Changes are coming, but SDN is not the end of the network.

In the automotive industry, when the first industrial robot appeared decades ago, belt conveyor workers were in the same position as modern network engineers. They asked themselves: "Is my job safe? Do you replace the machine? " Robots can easily cook and assemble very heavy components. They do it exactly every time, without having to take a break every two hours.

Nowadays, robots work a lot with car manufacturers, but not everyone works. Some projects require human contact, for example windshield installation. This is a delicate piece that is not intended for robotic weapons. Upholstery works are still carried out mainly by people. These are special tasks that show people the flexibility and skills they need to adapt to new situations, enabling them to do work that no other machine could provide.

There are still jobs for people in the data center, but certainly not as many as before. Previously, server administration required large groups of people with a specific operating system to configure and customize each server for a specific application. Optical divisions can now easily manage a variety of devices and operating systems. The task of the program is the task of the programmer.

Network engineers will face similar changes. For most scripts and automated systems, the average time needed to complete a service request is reduced. If less work, more work, competition for work will increase.
